San Bruno Coats for Kids Program…Share the Warmth!

October 7, 2008 · Jean Joh · Comment here

Parents often tell their children that one of the best ways to remain grateful is to remember those less fortunate than ourselves.  Here’s one way to practice that and “share the warmth” with others in our community.  The San Bruno Garbage Company and the City of San Bruno are having a Coats for Kids Drive throughout October.  Prudential San Bruno is participating in this drive again this year and is one of the drop-off locations for clean, gently used coats through FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st.  Although this is a Coats for Kids program, all sizes will be accepted.  So look through your closets and don’t miss this opportunity to help someone stay warm this winter!

Coats will be distributed on November 20th.

You can drop off your gently used coat or jacket at Prudential California Realty, 180 El Camino Real, San Bruno CA 94066.

The Human Cost of the Troubled Economy

October 5, 2008 · Jean Joh · 1 Comment

Last week, I was “on the floor” answering phone calls for our company, when I received a call from someone who was interested in one of the rentals we had available.  We arranged to meet the following day to look at the house of interest during his lunch hour.  When we met, I was surprised to learn that this gentleman actually lived right down the street from the house we were viewing.  He shared with me that he currently owned his home but that his mortgage payments had become unaffordable and that he was already several months behind.  He said he had no choice but to put it on the market as a short sale, rent for a little while and hopefully try to buy a home again after a few years.  He also told me about his large family and how difficult it was to be going through this process right now.

I usually don’t partake in discussions that revolve around politics, however, after last nights debate and the passing of the “bailout” I feel obligated to do so! Read more

Did you watch the debate Thursday night?

I was surprised by the debate, felt it was far better then the first one, wish they both had answered the questions. Seemed to me that they were asked a question and then answered with a speech. Palin did this more often. just wish they would tell the truth and quit living in the past. What did you Think?

Be careful what you wish for

Okay, we now know what making a “bad” decision can result in.  The “good” thing is we now have a chance to redeem ourselves.  This time around in order to make an informed decision, we really need to take our time and study the facts, really understand what each candidate represents and lastly be true to ourselves when making that final decision.  We are fortunate enough as Americans to have the freedom to vote and voice our opinions.  We need to take advantage of what we have and utilize it to the fullest.  Let’s do it right this time.

How much does it cost to make an offer?

October 2, 2008 · Shokoofeh Nowbakht · Comment here

“How much does it cost to make an offer,” my first time home buyer asked.  Nothing, but you do need to write a check for up to 3% of the purchase price, made out to a title company of your choice. This is the “earnest money,” or “good faith money.” This is not a down payment, but just a deposit to secure the offer or contract to show how serious the buyer is. In the simplest words, by default, buyer has 17 days, unless otherwise stated in the contract, to cancel the contract and get their deposit back.

More than just a picnic in San Bruno! It’s a family affair!

Boing! Boing! Boing! On Sept. 27, 2008 our office at Prudential California Realty- San Bruno had its annual company picnic, bounce house and all! Our agents brought their favorite dishes, pot luck style while the office supplied the hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks. It was a HOT day in San Bruno border-lining 90 degrees! Our favorite title companies supplied the kids with a jumping castle with a slide, piñata, and other goodies! There was a committee that put this all together and they did the greatest job, planning, shopping and preparing!

Our office family, together with our real families, were playing and eating together! It was a great atmosphere! The day was an absolute blast!

In today’s market every buyer is looking for a bargain.  With that in mind it is no surprise that the question most often asked these days from buyers is “How much will the seller take?”  There is only one sure-fire way to find out…write up an offer! Read more
