A day without internet!

December 11, 2008 ·

What would you do a whole day without internet? Scary! But, in fact, I got a lot done without internet yesterday. I went back to simple paper & pen and client list and called & contacted them. I admit, It wasn’t easy not to be able to check emails, or not even tweet ;-) . It’s amazing how much our lives depend on technology. How would you run your business one day without electricity? Can you imagine a day without multiple listing service?

Technology has brought us lots of things we did not have 10-15 years ago, fax machines, cell phones, color copies.MLS information was days behind the actual event, and of course the on line experience changed what we do more than any other single thing that this old guy can remember
    Thank you for your observation.

Until we lost our internet service, I had no idea how much I depend on the internet… kind of scary if you think about it. Depending on something you have no control over probably isn’t a good thing. I think we all learned a valuable lesson the other day, I’m sure not all the same lesson but never the less a valuable one.

A day without internet forced me to clear out some of the paper work clutter around my desk that I have been avoiding. Maybe we should schedule an internet outage once a month… I wonder what a day with out electricty would cause?

I made more phone calls that day to past clients, absentee owners, lead follow ups and then I edited my xmas labels and went farming! I got more done than I would on a regular day so I would say, I learned a lesson and that’s “Get off the computer, already!” Ha!

I think everyone is right in their own way. It made me do things that I have been meaning to do. Without the internet I was limited and had to find different ways to still keep productive.
