San Bruno Halloween Houses!
San Bruno sure knows how to celebrate Halloween especially if you live on Elm Ave. (Nightmare On Elm St.) Every year families crowd the streets, trick or treating by the thousands. Most homes who give out candy run out. Lines form in front of some houses and there are traffic jams on some of the narrow sidewalks! I saw news cameras one year on the corner of Elm and Clark! Decrations are always a hit! I have posted some for you to see!
Prudential San Bruno 1st Annual Halloween Pumpkin Patch
Prudential San Bruno will be hosting our first annual Pumpkin Patch this Saturday October 24th from 10am-2:00pm. Our parking lot will be set up like a pumpkin patch and families are welcome to pick one pumpkin of their choice and enjoy goodies such as hot chocolate and cookies. Candy goody bags will be given to children as well as the option to have your face painted or take a picture to take home to remember the event. During the pumpkin patch we will be having our “Coats for Kids” drive so anyone who can spare a coat will be entered into a drawing to win 1 of 20 $50.00 gift cards from Target.
Please join us in making our first annual Pumpkin Patch a success!!
San Bruno Coats For Kids 2009!
“Coats for Kids” in San Bruno is a wonderful community tradition coordinated by San Bruno Garbage and The City of San Bruno every year as the weather starts to get chilly!
You can help someone stay warm this winter by simply donating a clean, gently used coat at one of many drop-off locations in San Bruno!
Click here to see which drop-off location is nearest you!
I love helping at this event every year. It’s a great fun way to get to know the neighbors and give back a little to the community.
The coat giveaway day is Thursday, November 19th 4:00-7:00 pm at the Fireman’s Hall/ San Bruno Chamber of Commerce, 618 San Mateo Ave., San Bruno, Ca. All are welcome. Limit one coat per person. Children must be present to receive coat.
Buyer (Still) Beware
We warn once again that it will not be a buyer’s market into perpetuity, though others have a different opinion. Some forecasters – Goldman Sachs being the most prominent – project the Federal Reserve will hold the fed funds rate low for “many years” in order to help U.S. consumers and companies pull out of their funk. If that were the case, then it would appear that mortgages rates ranging between 4.5% and 5.5% could be the norm deep into 2011.
Meanwhile, Reuters reports that homebuyers are still negotiating good discounts based on data released in July’s Zillow Real Estate Market Report. Zillow notes that buyers paid 3.3%, or nearly $7,039, less than the last listing price on homes for sale during July. What’s more, 22.8% of all homes listed for sale on Zillow during August were listed for a median 96 days, up from 91 in July.
It sounds like the trend will remain the buyer’s friend through 2011 – until you dig a little deeper. Zillow also noted that the 3.3% discount is down from June’s 3.5% discount and substantially down from January’s 4.6% discount. It is also worth noting, yet again, that the usual hard-hit burgs in Nevada , Florida and California skew the data.
“Even if prices stabilize and rise, we can still finance at cheaper rates,” so the counter argument goes. Yes, that is the case today, but we think Goldman and others are underestimating how quickly an economy can turn and how quickly inflation can conflate. It is a buyers’ market today, so buyers should take advantage of it today. As for tomorrow? We are much less sure.
Is history repeating itself?
In recent months the entry level Real Estate market has shifted and become for some people, a competitive sport. If priced correctly homes aren’t lasting past the first week’s open house as buyers are frantically racing to submit offers. Supply is low and demand is high and we all know with that combination multiple offers arise. What’s good for the goose isn’t necassarily good for the gander.. is history repeating itself? Is what is occuring now exactly what we saw a few years ago when home prices soared and multiple offers were just expected? There are many factors that come into play, some may argue this market is nothing like the one we saw a few years ago. We can say for sure banks have tightened up their guidelines to put it gently. Unless you can prove you qualify, you don’t get approved. Interest rates are lower and home prices have dropped so buyers in today’s market essentially have more buying power. Appraisals have been tightened and often times more then one is necessary to get approved by the lender. With that said, is it really all that different? Are consumers so eager to purchase a home for fear they will “miss the boat” that they are over extending themselves to make it happen. Hopefully with the tightened lender guidelines, history won’t repeat itself. What are your thoughts as I would love to hear them…

Can I really buy a house at the San Bruno Farmer’s Market?

Karin Cunningham-"Your San Bruno real estate specialist at your service!"

Lee Ginsburg-"San Bruno residential and investment specialist!"
Lee Ginsburg and I worked a booth at the San Bruno Farmer’s Market last Sunday and had such a blast! We are always trying to think of ways to promote our buyers and sellers and when we heard that the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce was offering booths to promote businesses, we thought it was a great idea for us! Since our office, Prudential California Realty, is in San Bruno, I live in San Bruno, I do a good portion of my business in San Bruno, not to mention my kids go to school and play sports here, I knew a good amount of people that walked by! It was a really great experience!

San Bruno Farmer’s Market is a GREAT success!

If you haven’t heard, the San Bruno Farmer’s Market started on Sunday, June 21st and is continuing every Sunday through October from 10-2pm! Downtown Sundays will have live music, fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, specialty breads and international food.
If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend swinging by! I was there on the first day and enjoyed picking out a variety of strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. I also bought some carrots, all kinds of summer squashes, and peaches! They were all delicious!
There was also a kettle corn booth, a booth for coloring and laminating commemorative pins, and a featured business. This event is put on by the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce so a featured business is an appropriate and great way for a business to promote themselves! (That means you’ll see me there one day, for sure!)
If you don’t have plans on a Sunday this summer, try to make it to the San Bruno Farmer’s Market! It’s a great local event you won’t want to miss!
Booooooooooooooooooo!
