Election 2008
Election 2008
Election Day 2008 is just around the corner. Nationally this is a very important election. Locally it is also. Many Bay Area school districts have measures or the ballot for a Parcel Tax. A Parcel Tax is a flat fee for each real estate parcel in the district. Seniors could opt out not to pay. These Parcel taxes generally run $75.00 -$175.00 a year and are usually for a period of time of 5-10 years. Heck it is less than a tank of gas, less than a nice dinner for two, less than my wife spends at the beauty parlor, etc. The problem is these must be passed by 2/3 of the people. Approximately 45% of our property tax presently goes towards schools. As property values fall so does the school’s funding. Read more
San Bruno Coats for Kids Program…Share the Warmth!
Parents often tell their children that one of the best ways to remain grateful is to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. Here’s one way to practice that and “share the warmth” with others in our community. The San Bruno Garbage Company and the City of San Bruno are having a Coats for Kids Drive throughout October. Prudential San Bruno is participating in this drive again this year and is one of the drop-off locations for clean, gently used coats through FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st. Although this is a Coats for Kids program, all sizes will be accepted. So look through your closets and don’t miss this opportunity to help someone stay warm this winter!
Coats will be distributed on November 20th.
You can drop off your gently used coat or jacket at Prudential California Realty, 180 El Camino Real, San Bruno CA 94066.

The Housing Stimulus Package Continued
This is my third and probably final thought on the recent Housing Stimulus Package.

The FHA foreclosure rescue is a great idea but I don’t think it is practical, at least not in the Bay Area Market that I am familiar with. The FHA will offer to qualified buyers a new fixed rate loan at 90% of today’s market price for the home they are living in and that they own and owe considerably more money. With this program the owner shares the future appreciation with the FHA. This adds to family stability and less homes on the market and gives the family to gain some equity. I think the original lender will lose more under this than with the foreclosure process but it might be easier, quicker, look better on their books and they also gain a new guaranteed loan. In my opinion too many ifs to make this work in large numbers but the thought is GREAT. Read more
Can you really buy a house at the San Mateo County Fair?
The San Mateo County Fair runs from Aug. 8th- Aug. 17. Our office has a booth and we have been really busy answering questions about home prices, loans, REO’s, short sales and all kinds of stuff! Its a casual environment not like the tidy, quiet and clean office we’re accustomed to. Its fun to chat with people at the fair because the atmosphere is not so “closed in”. We have a binder of homes for sale that fair goers can flip through and get a good idea of what homes are selling for in their favorite neighborhoods. Come join us at the fair! We’ll even sign you up to win an iPod nano!
San Bruno, San Francisco Alternative – Vegetarian Friendly City
San Bruno – I call it San Francisco alternative for several reasons. Besides very affordable housing, it is a incredibly vegetarian friendly city. Down Town San Bruno or more specifically “The Avenue” has several restaurants which serve varieties of vegetarian as well as vegan foods. Whether you’re craving Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean or Italian, you will find a place to grab a fabulous meal to enjoy.
