Should I rent or buy???
Many people have always asked, “Should I rent or should I buy?”. My answer, it depends… Each person has their own situation and their own plans for their future. I have always wanted to own my own home and have therefore belived it is better to buy then to rent. Have I rented before, of course I have. Some people may not plan on staying in the same area or not know if they will or not.
With the recent market activity in the area I service, the rental market has slowly continued to raise and become more expensive while the value of homes have come down over the past years and have made buying more affordable. The interest rates combined with the lowering of home values provide an even stronger argument for home ownership.
Under what circumstances would it be better to own? Under what circumstances would it be better to rent? Lets look at some of the reasons for each case. Read more
What is a Mortgage?
A mortgage is often refered to as the amount paid for real property monthly. It is a loan that is secured by real property through the huse of a mortgage note. Most commonly a loan is gotten through a bank, either directly or indirectly through intermediaries. Features of mortgage loans such as the size of the loan, maturity of the loan, interest rate, method of paying off the loan, and other characteristics can vary considerably.
There are many types of mortgages used worldwide, but several factors broadly define the characteristics of the mortgage. All of these may be subject to local regulation and legal requirements.
Interest: interest may be fixed for the life of the loan or variable, and change at certain pre-defined periods; the interest rate can also, of course, be higher or lower.
Term: mortgage loans generally have a maximum term, that is, the number of years after which an amortizing loan will be repaid. Some mortgage loans may have no amortization, or require full repayment of any remaining balance at a certain date, or even negative amortization. Read more
Prudential San Bruno’s 4th Annual Shredding Party
Prudential California Realty San Bruno is hosting it’s 4th annual shredding event. This is a complimentary service we as a company provide to our community as a way of giving back. Due to the success and evolution of the event, it has has afforded us the opportuntity to assist more of the community by providing two trucks to ensure every last document gets shredded safely. Last year we shredded over 1 ton of paper and hope to shred even more this year!
The process couldn’t be anymore easier. You simply pull into the parking lot where a Prudential agent will greet you and off load your documents for you.
An extra added bonus is that the truck has a video monitor that you can view as your documents are being lifted into the truck. This gives you the extra assurance that your documents are being safely destroyed. We also provide refreshments for your enjoyment. It truly is a wonderful event.
Prudential San Bruno holds this event annually, so make sure to mark your calendars every April, we typically schedule the event around Earth Day.

Bless San Bruno
You know we have seen other natural disasters similar to the San Bruno Explosion.
When we watch it on TV and it happens hundreds or thousands of miles away it a tragedy, it is terrible.
When it happens around the corner from you and it is heartbreaking.
When it happens to you, I doubt there are words to explain those your thoughts.
When you see the outpouring of volunteers, donations, and support it is heartwarming.
It makes me proud to say that I have lived and worked in San Bruno for 35 years ever since I moved from the East Coast.
Next time someone asks me where I work, I am going to say Loud and Clear;

Lets give credit where credit is due. The Police Department, The Fire Department, Mayor Jim Ruane, City Manager Connie Jackson, City Council People, neighboring Cities, Millbrae, Burlingame, South San Francisco, Daly City and others worked so hard and professionally. Within hours an evacuation center was set up and within 12 hours many state and federal agencies, Red Cross, along with insurance companies had tables set up to help with the recovery.

A Difficult Day
Hi Jean,
Just wanted to say Hi, and acknowledge that which I am sure was your most difficult day in real estate. Sometimes it is easier when we know we made a mistake than when people hurt us, and damage our confidence for no reason. Guess one could say that it won’t be the last time, and while that may true, it is a bit like kicking someone when they are down. One way to measure potential for future success, is to gauge the ability to jump back up and move forward. I promise you the rewards will far out weigh the disappointments. You have all the tools, personality and skills necessary to be successful, but no one really knows about the reactions to disappointment until faced with it. If my 39 years experience counts for anything, my money would be bet on YOU. See you tomorrow, and thank you for the opportunity to work with such a special person,
Michael
Such is the email I received from one of our brokers, Michael Monozon, on a day early in my real estate career when a transaction fell apart for the first time and I was feeling down. The email had the subject heading “Difficult Day”, and the email itself just captured so much of what Michael was to me and countless other agents. He was always cheering us on, encouraging us to persevere, and reminding us to value ourselves and what we had to offer our clients. Read more
